Clay Target Shooting Criteria

Natwest Island Games 2015: Jersey

Those wishing to put themselves forward for the 2015 NatWest Island Games Clay Target Shooting Team, competitions to be held in Jersey 27th June to 3rd July, must register an interest with the shooting manager no later than 31st July 2014 by: -

The disciplines to be represented are:

ISU Skeet 

Team event 2 x 100 targets
Individuals 2 x 125

English Skeet Team event 2 x 100 targets
Individuals 2 x 125
Automatic Ball Trap Team event 2 x 100 targets
Individuals 2 x 125
Universal Trap Team event 2 x 100 targets
Individuals 2 x 125
English Sporting Team event best 2 from 3 x 100
Individuals 3 x 100
Sport Trap Team event best 2 from 3 x 100
Individuals 3 x 100

All events will be open events except for English Sporting and Sport Trap where it is hoped to have both a mens and ladies competition.  This will be decided by the Jersey shooting committee once numbers are in.

Once interest has been registered the candidate must meet the following criteria:

  • Must hold a current valid shotgun certificate & a European firearm pass for shotgun/s being taken to games.

  • Have been born in the Western Isles or at present be residing in the Western Isles for at least the 12 months prior to the date of the games opening ceremony. See WIIGA bylaws section 6 for clarification.

  • Submit 5 scores to be considered for qualification in your registered discipline.

    These scores will consist of 100 bird shoots, 2 of which may be from your club ground and the 3 remaining will be from SCTA or CPSA selection shoots at 2 different registered shooting grounds. 

  • Discipline qualification minimum scores:

Scores can be taken from the period 1st Jan 2014 to the cut off date which will be 14 days prior to team names being submitted to WIIGA, for finalisation of travel and accommodation arrangements.

Due to the infrequency of shoots in some disciplines scores from other disciplines will be considered as a substitute but not in preference;

Prospective team members must ensure that they are able to secure the period of the games as time off from their workplace also that they can be available for travel up to 4 days prior to the opening ceremony. This is to allow some practice & familiarisation with the clay grounds.

All team members will be expected to be familiarise themselves with the rules for the discipline that they wish to participate in, as when at competition they will be expected to take their turn at referee/scorer.     

Please Note that achieving the qualifying criteria does not guarantee automatic qualification. The ultimate decision on the WIIGA Team travelling to Jersey will be taken by the WIIGA Committee following receipt of submissions from all sports.
